Sweeping police reform bill receives support from law enforcement organizations

The Missouri Times reported from Jefferson City, MO on January 25,2021

The sweeping police reform bill sponsored by Sen. Brian Williams seeks to increase accountability among officers and departments across the state.

SB60 includes commonsense reforms like banning chokeholds and classifying an officer engaging in sexual misconduct with a detainee as a Class E felony.

We won’t have what happened in Minnesota with George Floyd in Missouri; we won’t have what happened to Breonna Taylor in Louisville in Missouri; we won’t have another Michael Brown in Missouri. And folks would be able to feel safe and not only have trust in law enforcement, but law enforcement officers would feel safe in the community as well.
– Senator Brian Williams

The bill has been gaining broad support from police organizations across the state.
